Asking questions

Ruby Sales, who Jonathan Daniels saved from Thomas Coleman’s shotgun blast, has continued to work for racial and economic justice. Sales says it’s important for our times to ask people, “Where does it hurt?” Asking questions – Where does it hurt? What are you scared of? What do you think you’ll lose? – has been a better tact for me in teaching, rather than trying to shame people into submission.
